"I climb via Desa Karangan. With total of 5 members of Tembakvl adventure group. We hike 2 days 1 night, and built camp at Pos 5. Summit attack from Pos 5 at 5 am. We arrived at the peak at 10 am." — sigitaji • May 8, 2024
"2D1N hike from Sembalun. I didn’t record any data, just went with the flow of our guide. Distances vary but it’s around 15 miles RT if starting and returning from/to Sembalun. Hike is hot and humid with numerous scheduled stops including one for lunch. Summit day starts early followed by a return to the base of the mountain. Overnight in a tent on the crater rim. Beautiful mountain although the amount of trash will shock many. " — fredbrown585 • May 1, 2024
"Set off from camp at 2am in order to reach the summit for sunrise. At 4am, there was an earthquake (magnitude 7.3 although the epicentre was 50 miles away), which shook the mountain and stopped everyone in their tracks for 20 seconds" — IsaacParkin • Aug 29, 2023
"Ascended via Baturraden track and descended via Guci permadi track. Completed in 1 day, 17 hours.
Ascended at a moderate pace with adequate breaks, descent was fast.
Topped out on puncak Soerano, sign at top says 3427m, same as puncak Slamet to the east. However 1 map I looked at showed soerano at 3427m and slamet at 3436m. Whatever it is, its a small difference. " — AidanAstwood • May 22, 2023
"Straightforward walk up the besakih trail.
High quality trail, by my New Zealand standards anyway. Only a little exposure hazard at summit by crater. Frequent thunderstorms in the afternoon. 12 hours up and down. 7am to 7pm.
Used a guide, whilst the trail is very safe for solo travel, for cultural and local economic reasons, just played it safe and took one. " — AidanAstwood • May 2, 2023
