"Second time at this summit made for a great Labor Day! Started at 5 and the trail was quite busy. Summitted with Ryan Byers and some of his Pocatello friends (Spencer, Adria?, Alex). Very clear day, even calm air at the summit. Chicken out is much less scary the second time 'round. No snow bridge made the route feel much safer. Good to be back up there!" - Borah Peak, robkleffner, Sep 3, 2018
"Did this as my final 12'r for the list finish. The scramble up the Headwall is quite intense. From the picture provided on the Idaho Summit Guide page I would highly recommend taking the route to the left and not the right. The left is used far more and poses far less risk. The ridge was pretty simple. The weather was good but very smokey." - Mount Church, Irrationalist, Aug 18, 2018
"Did this trying to hit it before a storm, failed doing so. The South Ridge route really means to go up the bowl not the south ridge which is a pretty intense class 4 at a minimum if you try to hit it right away. Amazing summit would definitely do it again without forest fire smoke." - Mount Breitenbach, Irrationalist, Aug 17, 2018
"Craziest day yet in the Lost River range. Reached the summit with Ryan Byers despite it. Fires are causing air quality problems in Idaho right now. Additionally, there was a thunderstorm right over us at 7 am. Very strange and lightning struck about half a mile away from us, loudest sound I've ever heard and caused us both some concern. I'd been looking at the forecast so we knew that the storms would clear up, but we did contemplate heading back as the lighting got bad. Thankfully after that nearby strike the storm died down and did not reappear. We started up again and soon the skies were" - Lost River Peak, robkleffner, Aug 5, 2018
"Finally got another Idaho 12er! Summitted with Ryan Byers. I would say Breitenbach is not a difficult mountain, but it is strenuous. The upclimb was not bad since the scree was actually quite packed; this turned out to be a nuisance on the way down for our poor knees. We were quick on the ascent due to mosquitoes all the way to 11,500 ft! It was a very warm day with very little breeze, so the layers I brought ended up mostly slowing me down. Early on we passed another group of hikers. As we ran into them again on our way back from the summit, they mentioned wanting to try a traverse to Lost" - Mount Breitenbach, robkleffner, Jul 14, 2018
