"Trail is steep and steady. I made good progress and pass 2 climbing parties. A climber blows by me flying for the top I won’t see him again until almost at the summit on his descent. Chicken out ridge is not that technical but requires some
Scrambling. There is one Down Climb that usually has a rope but doesn’t that is kind of hard. Upper Mountian complete covered in clouds and snow.
Summit clouds break amazing view. Weird looking out and being higher than the clouds.
Descent steep beats up my legs and knees.
Overall impression awesome
Hike fun scrambling pitch made the descent hard on my knees" — ryancoburn • Aug 20, 2021

"Excellent early season climb. The ridge could be a little tricky right now since the snow is making it very narrow in spots. Probably a lot more comfortable later in the season.

"Camped at the busy trailhead night before, started 6:30am. Just before tree line, two young big horn sheep ran through the trail right in front of us. Seemed like they were playing, pretty cool. Chicken Out Ridge was short-lived, but lots of fun. Stayed mostly on top of the ridge, just a couple of tougher moves along the way and then suddenly reached the tower down climb. There was a rope for guidance and snow bridge was totally melted out. From there, a steep scree-ridden trail with some scrambling in the mix takes you to the summit. Pretty much relentless through all 8 miles, but awesome nonetheless. Beautiful day with blue skies and light winds on the mountain, but views of smoke layers over Idaho from all these western fires." — jodola • Sep 12, 2020

"Did Hyndman on Friday, second time on this one. I am still in awe that this is listed as easier than Bora, the last on both is tough climbing as far as steep but I think this one is the worse of the two . Chicken out is so over rated , it has appearance of severe and some comments but really it's just a couple of spots and go. Hyndman is spectacular for water and scenery ! And the flowers in July are amazing ." — twobitmuley • Sep 4, 2020
