"It was a beautiful day for a hike! The trail was very muddy and we covered in leaves making for a pretty slippery decent. The fire tower needs some work as a lot of the side fencing is missing. It was a beautiful hike over all!" — Heidi Nestved • Oct 29, 2022
"I really disliked this hike - rocks, mud, and roots all the way. Steep the whole way. No good views - cab closed and wire missing around the top levels. Still glad I did it but whew it was a real mental challenge. Bring bug spray! :)
Note: the road leading up to the trailhead was beautifully done, as are the stream crossings!" — stacydedring • Jul 9, 2022
"Muddy and slippery in spots. Bugs swarming but not biting on the way up. Wicked black flies on top. Cabin roof looks dangerous. Hangs over the trail as you come into the tower clearing.Beautiful day and beautiful hike though. Going to go up the tower now. No views from the ground." — melaniehaskell • Jul 7, 2022
"Kelly and I arrived at the trailhead at 11:45 under light rain, breezy and 60 degrees. Traveled easily about a mile on an old tote road and then up up to the tower. Checked out a helicopter pad prior to the summit. An old ranger's cabin awaits you at the base of the tower. It has been recently boarded and locked. The tower cabin was extremely windy and offered no views due to low rain clouds. Returned to truck after lunch at 3:30." — garyogden • May 17, 2022
"Tom and l left the trailhead at 9:20 am under blue skies at 28 degrees. Trail had a light dusting of fresh snow and about an inch and a half fresh at the summit. We donned trail crampons about halfway up due to ice. Summited at 11:07. Beautiful blue skies. Cabin on the fire tower was open for 360 degree views! Returned to car at 1pm." — garyogden • Apr 2, 2022
