"This one is probably really nice on a sunny spring day! Low cloud\fog and rather damp. Would like to go back - quite an interesting, quaint area, and the hills to the east look good for a wander. My route may get you in trouble btw ;-)" — adventure-stricken • Mar 8, 2026
"Went to the lakes in my own. Managed to bag the last parking spot in the parking area at Martindale church and headed up.
Lower slopes frosty but a delight in the sunshine higher up with low cloud over the lake and sat in the valley.
A lovely up and down and much needed.
Descended to chaos as people were parked all over and stuck in the mud. " — charliegill • Mar 7, 2026
"2nd hill of the day and one I wanted to pick up last year but ran out of time for.
Solo trip this time with gorgeous views and deer running around nearby.
Met a lovely gent called Mark at the summit who I had a chat with. He was amazing if he ever sees this thank you!
Drank my cup of tea and headed back down where I saw the deer again " — charliegill • Mar 7, 2026
"Should have taken the main route there and back, but as ever, made my life difficult - mud and floods prevailed! Another English Marilyn ticked off en route to do a longer hike in the Quantocks! " — adventure-stricken • Feb 1, 2026
"A short walk from the east. The access is between two houses. There is a private property sign and no sign indicating the footpath so perhaps others have been detered from taking this route. The path went up above the cottage on the right and I met the owner who'd been installing a solid-looking fence there. He was nice and friendly. Up here through the trees until the open area and then a wander about the top, to the copse of trees and a slightly higher point. Returned same route but the man had gone indoors." — vygodski • Dec 21, 2025
