"Cool hike. Starts off super easy from the trailhead, past Sandy Stream Pond, for about the first mile-ish. From there, it's one mile that climbs about 1500' in elevation. It was a grind! On this particular day, it was miserable up top. Completely socked in and wind gusts that had to have been hitting 30mph. Visibility was maybe 15 yards. It was spooky and cool, but once I hit the summit, the wind was so crazy that I had to get the hell out of there. I was happy to get back below treeline. I will definitely have to hike this again because I've heard the view is great. " — mikewilliamsjr • Oct 30, 2024

"Abol trail on the second to last day of Baxter being open. It was clear and mostly above freezing luckily unlike the day before. There was about an inch of snow on the tablelands but none on the ascent of abol. Was very nice to remember about the mountain" — noahthackeray • Oct 13, 2024

"Took the Abol trail to Baxter peak avec Thack and Ethan. Temps were cold & windy on the ascent & the descent was sunny and warm. Trails were moderately busy on the descent. The fall foliage was unreal. Took 7 heures, I think." — meilijohnson • Oct 13, 2024
"Beautiful day with great summit views towards Katahdin. Direct view into Knife Edge, Baxter and Hamlin Peaks. Pretty windy and no moose at Sandy Stream Pond. Bird of the day: Boreal Chickadee." — Alohabuffy • Sep 9, 2024

"Another Knife Edge behind me. All that was left was a grueling descent of Dudley Trail. After many hours in the sun, all the bouldering was a nightmare. I was glad to get back to camp. I'll be taking a break from Katahdin and K.E. for a few years. There are other peaks in BSP on my list that I want to get to before I go back. " — mikewilliamsjr • Aug 13, 2024
