"Second climb of the day,, Took the short route to the summit .4 mile so upwards it was with some sketchy icy rock scrambling, but nothing i couldnt handle,, spikes near the summit and a great bum slide on the way down,, Awesome day with full sun no clouds but frigid temps -17c" - Cobble Hill, ramjet1963, Jan 13, 2019
"Goodman Mountain Mountain January 10th, 2019 12:20p We started at 11:18a today and are planning on hitting the entire Tupper Lake Triad. There is a lot of powder snow on the ground, up to my knees in some places. I am first so I am making the path for both Matt and myself to go up the mountain. We already have a good portion of the mountain under our belts and it seemed like we were going to be the only ones all day. We only stopped for a moment to catch our breath when another hiker came right up behind us and scared the living crap out of me. Was not expecting him. "Solo. Started out around 0900. My car was showing -1° when I started out, a crisp cold grey day preceding (likely) snow tonight. I was aiming for two small peaks today to test out two new pieces of gear- boots and a pack. Lots of hard packed snow on trail with a light dusting of snow on top. This was a nice easy climb, that started out on the flat and then had a tiny push at the top. The view was pretty nice, I could see Snowy Mtn & its firetower pretty clearly. The new boots are good, will need some break in around the top of the ankles, they’re a bit stiff on the outsides, and the pack fits" - Watch Hill, kellieirene, Jan 7, 2019
"Couldn't ask for a better day if hiking in the Spring, a little warm for Winter and the lack of snow made these hikes doable with just micro-spikes but we carried in our snow-shoes in case. Both Haystack and Baker trails were well worn and made for an easy going with great views from both summits." - Baker Mountain, hbotc, Jan 5, 2019
"Set out today to do the Fulton Chain Trifecta for a Winter Rocker! Not much of a Winter, not much snow on the trails and what was there was packed down, just needed Micro-Spikes for all three mountains. Started with Bald, little icy in spots but a lot of exposed rock, little snow. Went on to Rocky Mountain, very wet conditions as well as icy. Black Bear was a bear! Like a swamp until we started the climb, then very icy. All in all a lot of fun and even though there was overcast views were great below. Just wished for more snow, we had the cold but the day before was warm and rain that seemed t" - Bald Mountain, hbotc, Dec 29, 2018
