Short hike up an open meadow. To get to the mountain: from Magdalena take NM-107 south to a signed FR-234. At the fork, take FR-46 (aka Fire 46 or Dark Canyon Road). Keep in mind you are crossing private property so stay on the obvious graded road. After you pass through a ranch corral/gate onto signed forest land, continue down FR-046 but look for a road on your left marked as 271 (only the "71" is visible). Turn onto FR-271. From this point on a HC-4WD is needed to transit the 1.2 miles to the west side of the mountain.
