"With Joanna. Rowling End:- Steep, tiring, hot, and horrible. We seen a tree though. Oh yeah, half a sheep's face too. As well as other bits of the same sheep laying about everywhere. Causey Pike:- Not sure if this was terrifying or exhilarating. Scar Crags:-Worth it. Such red. Wow. (The recent heat wave seems to have made all the plants red? It looked cool anyways.) Sail:- **** that path. The Rest:- We nearly ran out of water, so we decided to head back.. Then my GPS died, so I didn't log the last couple of miles. Awesome walk all in all. 11/10 would walk again.

"Day 3 of short break in The Lake District. A very hot day, decided on a shorter walk, to try to break in new boots on 1st hill walk after previous easy walks at home. From Uzzicar in the Newlands valley, we walked up the old mines track which runs alongside Stoneycroft Gill. This route chosen over direct route for easier gradient but slightly longer walk for new boots. The track ascends steadily W then SW to High Moss by the smaller peak of Outerside, then a small path ascends SE to the ridge close to the summit. Here there were good views around the Lake District. From the summit, we retraced our steps for 300m, then continued over the summit of Scar Crags 675m and dropped down to the top of Sail Pass. Here we turned NE and descended to our inward track to return to the start point. The new boots proved uncomfortable and skinned my feet in places, possibly because of the 30c temperature! Will try them again!" — davidlong • Jun 26, 2018
"Circular walk from Newlands Valley near Keswick, went steeply up Causey Pike by Rowling End first, then along Scar Crags ridge and up steeply to Sail Along and up again to Crag Hill, the highest point on the walk. Then drop down to Coledale Hause before climbing to the final summit of the day Grisedale Pike, descend to Braithwaite village, walk through the village and out via Braithwiate Lodge Farm, climb over the low hillside and drop back into Newlands Valley, to return to start point. A bright sunny summer walk." — davidlong • Aug 27, 2014
"Circular walk from Newlands Valley near Keswick, went up Causey Pike first, then along Scar crags ridge and up steeply to Sail> Along and up again to Crag Hill, the highest point on the walk. Then drop down to Coledale Hause before climbing to the final summit of the day Grisedale Pike, in the afternoon sun. As it is November, the daylight is fading, so descend to Braithwaite village, walk through the village and out via Braithwiate Lodge Farm, climb over the low hillside and drop back into Newlands Valley, to return to start point. A bright sunny winters day walk" — davidlong • Nov 6, 2011
