"Good trek round striding edge. Hit a few peaks on the day. Really good weather. Striding edge is a good challenge for those who are looking for something a bit more challenging. Don’t take it lightly, there are a few points where footing is difficult. There is a path that follows the edge so an easier route is available if needed." — CB-Climb • Sep 7, 2024
"14/06/2022 Great walk taking the Helvellyn ridges with Susan. Up Seat Sandal, Dollywaggon, Nethermost to Helvellyn. Then down Swirral Edge to Catstycam, across to Striding Edge and back up to Helvellyn. Descent back to car which was left on Dunmail Raise." — johnandsue4fun • Jun 14, 2022
"A grey day with low cloud and wind for the first nine summits - cleared for Catstye Cam and Birkhouse Moor. Hard, icy snow on upper part of Swirral Edge. Despite the cloud stayed mostly dry. Home to Susan by 3.00pm." — johnandsue4fun • Jan 22, 2022
"Headed across Swirral Edge from Helvellyn ariving around 12:30pm. Conditions had become more windy with strong gusts. Still in dense cloud and wet with the mist and occasional shower. Descended via north-west ridge to Keppel Cove dam. Descent was very steep and at one point I slipped and fell about 2m, my backpack catching a rock preventing me sliding down further. Arrived back at Grisedale at 2:20pm." — NorthernWayfarer • Jun 22, 2017
"From Glenridding vilage we walked up to Birkhouse Moor, then by the "hole in the wall", we crossed east of Red Tarn and up steeply onto Catstye Cam. We then went up Swirral Edge to Helvellyn. Here we went south to Nethermost Pike and Dollywagon Pike, enjoying good views all of the way. We then retraced our steps back along the ridge, passing slightly under the summit of Helvellyn and went north over Lower Man, Whiteside Bank and on to Raise. Here we descended down to Sticks Pass and returned down the broad path to Glenridding." — davidlong • Jun 10, 2009
"Leading a party of boys from the King's School, Chester. After ascending Helvellyn via Grisedale Tarn. Along Striding Edge (initial slope steep but snow conditions just right). Down to Red Tarn Beck and to Catstye Cam. Hence to Helvellyn via Swirral Edge. Greatly enjoyed by party. Mist now descended though it had threatened all day. Descended by path to Wythburn for bus to Grasmere." — peter43 • Apr 10, 1962
