"Bad conditions in the south coulior and low elevation trees, perfect conditions elsewhere with a refresh of 10-15cms of pow on top of supportive base. Skied right off the summit. " — BobbyG • Mar 30, 2019
"Not the bluebird day we were hoping for, but still a highlight of the winter.
Took the South Coulior to the upper slopes. Skied down the north bowl/keyhole. Variable but reasonable snow. Skis on all the way to summit (except for boot up the south couloir)
. Good long decent.
Rapped the waterfall (2-3 meter ice bulge) and used ski crampons on the upper slopes." — mike_rogers81 • Mar 25, 2018
"Encountered a massive avy slope with exposed runout that did not slide in the big March cycle. We dug two pits and found the November facets were not supportive and decided to not take the risk. Yoyoed a fall line just above the lower couloir, great skiing!" — BobbyG • Apr 8, 2017
"Did it on snowshoes in one push. We started at around 2:30am, which was a good call. Wet and isothermal snow after a week of unusually warm weather really slowed us down below the treeline.
Technically speaking, Cathedral Mountain is just a steep hike. However, a large portion of the travel is on a glacier and the route is exposed to serious avalanche danger in several places. One serious avalanche prone area extends for over a kilometer. The ascent involves a fair bit of sidesloping on the steep slopes, where a slip can lead to a serious injury.
In summary, despite technical "easiness" this mountain is recommended for winter ascent only for experienced adventurers. " — Taras • Mar 13, 2015
