"Our objective was all peaks on the Castle massif, but we weren't as fast as we needed to be with a thunderstorm coming later in the afternoon. So we managed the southern most peaks before heading back.
Great path to Round Bound Lake. The first 700 meters are gained at an easy 100m per km. The scenery is amazing, and only gets better as you climb past the lake to the upper plateaus. Route-finding was straight forward. There was still a fair bit of unavoidable snow (part of what slowed us down). So wet feet and post-holing became the highlight of the NE slopes. Great views from the South summit! We saw a party looking accomplished that just topped out Eisenhower Tower. On the way back, we scrambled up the less predominant, yet distinct smaller peaks on the south end. In order travelling from the South Peak: S2, S3, S4. For S2, we wrapped around to the South side and climbed a short and crumbly depression on the face. S3, we each took different options between scrambling small benches and a scree ramp. S4, we wrapped around the South end to the West side, and found a chimney to scramble up. There was another registry here, but full of water. After that, we meandered..." — ivo • Jul 17, 2022
"I climbed Castle Mountain via Brewer's Buttress (II 5.6+) on Wednesday, June 24th. The day started with a quick stop in Canmore for coffee around 5:30am. We got to the parking lot below castle mountain around 6:45 am and climbed up to the ACC hut on Goat plateau by about 10am. After a quick lunch we traversed the plateau to the base of Brewer's and began the first pitch at 11am. About 9 pitches later we topped out at 5:15pm and after spending an hour on the summit searching for the descent gully we rapped down and got back to the hut at about 7:45pm.
The following day we did a short climb called Kraut Pinnacle on Castle Mountain - a 200 ft. pinnacle that stands next to the upper cliff bands on goat plateau – and then descended to the valley and drove up the ice fields parkway to the Wilcox campground by Mt. Athabasca. We were asleep by 8:30pm in preparation for an early start the next day.

"Brutally hot day hitting highs of 30C. After staying the night at Rockbound Lake, I first summited Helena Ridge and then went on to finish off Castle Mountain with my scrambling buddy Glen the Postman. After summiting Helena, it felt like a long butt haul to the summit of Castle but it sure felt good to get there." — Mountainman • Aug 29, 2009
