This peak is the southerly peak of the Ben Loyal range, where it is possible to walk over 5 peaks in one long day, starting and finishing at sea level.
After several wet low cloud days, it cleared for us to walk the peaks of Ben Loyal. Walked past Ribigill farm across boggy moorland, a river crossing and a derelict croft before the ascent. V wet underfoot, but great views of the north coast of Scotland and Orkney islands. From the summit of the 1st peak, continued S along the broad ridge and over the next 4 peaks including An Caisteal to Beinn Bheag and Carn an Tionail where we descended W down grass slopes around the conical pt568, then descend a further 350m back to the valley and a long boggy trek back to the river crossing.
