"10.20.25~ Calico Tank West, Calico Tank & Red Cap 3 Peak Combo Meal CC Loop Tour w/Autumn. 3.4 miles, 1,000’ gain in 2:19hrs. Her 1st time on these Peaks and this route. Noon start from Sandstone Quarry was warmish without many breezes. " — paula.raimondi • Oct 20, 2025
"9.14.25~3 peak combo meal dill. Red Cap, Calico Tanks & its West Peak. CC Loop from Sandstone Quarry. 3.4 miles, 1,000’ gain in 1:48hrs. Up to the 1st peak in :29m, 2nd :46m & last in 1:18m. 2/3 of the route was in the shade with 7am start. Sunny parts were warm. Air was mostly still. Navigation was flawless. So Fun to play on the Rocks as always, especially with Jimmy. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 14, 2025
"9.12.25~4.4 miles for 4 peak Scramble from Sandstone Quarry. 1,300’ gain in 2:57hrs. W. Calico Tank, Calico Tank, Red Cap & Tinaja Peaks in that order. I only had a few small navigational errors. The route was 1/3 in the shadows but there were no breezes in the sun. Upon finishing, I passed by a tortoise at the trailhead signing autographs. I consumed 25oz water, 1/3 gatorlyte, one rice crispy treat and a small bag of chips/pretzel/ m&m snack. I haven’t been on Tinaja Peak in 5 years. It has a creepy awkward crux especially on the way down. I used creepy corner on the way to Red Cap. Fun. " — paula.raimondi • Sep 12, 2025
"Fun class 3 scrambling, with occasional 4th class here and there. Some route finding required for the direct descent. Would like to approach Turtlehead Mtn from the SE going through that area soon. I haven't seen anyone post a route from that side of the mountain." — MikeERodriguez • Mar 13, 2025
"Really, I don't log every redcap climb here. I just wanted a clean track of my trip with Jess, by the "Not Red-White" route and the back side. I've put numbers on the photos because and edit, anywhere, will cause peakery to randomize the photos." — hwstock • Nov 12, 2024
"Great day. We got lost but figured out the way. We returned early to make sure Jess had locked her car. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it. I figure this is over my 70th time up redcap." — hwstock • Nov 5, 2024
"Beautiful scramble with a friend.
Britt’s (half) loop via the Black Corridor, followed by Calico Hills Overlook, Calico Hills II Peak and Calico Tanks Peak.
Gorgeous tank by Calico Hills II Peak (see photos)
Mostly Class 2, easy Class 3" — PapriKa • Nov 18, 2023
"What a badass hike. Day started out clear but windy with snow levels in the 4-5k foot range so we were optimistic about summiting. The weather intensified as we neared peak 1 (THJR) and we considered heading down, but ultimately decided that Calico was on the way back to the cars and well we're out here already so why not. That's when the heavy snowfall started! Nevertheless we conquered and descended without issue. One for the books!" — DudeAlmighty • Feb 23, 2023
"Such a fun route , nothing too bad I’d say the moves before turtlehead jr summit were toughest I Encountered. Registers on THJR, red book & tanks peak . If there was one on hills peak I missed it . " — joshortman • Dec 9, 2022
"1.13.2022~Red Book to Red Cap 4 peak Scramble. w/Calico Tank West & Calico Tank Peaks w/Adam. 4.6 miles, 2,000’ gain, 3:28hrs.
Aztec Sandstone Surfing at its finest. Adam hadn’t done these peaks so I took him on my fav touring traverse of them. These routes were shown to me when I was a newb…before turning Emo/solo. I covet them now and love using them as a hard workout. It’s fun to share the secret Sandstone matrix with a friend. I incorporated the Red Cap Double Slot route into the ascent of Red Cap and the Descent back to the car. We made fairly quick work of it in a total time of 3:28hrs for a clockwise/South to North trending loop. The clouds kept the temps cool on this warm route." — paula.raimondi • Jan 13, 2022
