Britt’s (half) loop via the Black Corridor, followed by Calico Hills Overlook, Calico Hills II Peak and Calico Tanks Peak.
Gorgeous tank by Calico Hills II Peak (see photos)

"Such a fun route , nothing too bad I’d say the moves before turtlehead jr summit were toughest I Encountered. Registers on THJR, red book & tanks peak . If there was one on hills peak I missed it . " — joshortman • Dec 9, 2022
"1.13.2022~Red Book to Red Cap 4 peak Scramble. w/Calico Tank West & Calico Tank Peaks w/Adam. 4.6 miles, 2,000’ gain, 3:28hrs.
Aztec Sandstone Surfing at its finest. Adam hadn’t done these peaks so I took him on my fav touring traverse of them. These routes were shown to me when I was a newb…before turning Emo/solo. I covet them now and love using them as a hard workout. It’s fun to share the secret Sandstone matrix with a friend. I incorporated the Red Cap Double Slot route into the ascent of Red Cap and the Descent back to the car. We made fairly quick work of it in a total time of 3:28hrs for a clockwise/South to North trending loop. The clouds kept the temps cool on this warm route." — paula.raimondi • Jan 13, 2022
"We dropped one vehicle off in Sandstone Quarry parking lot. Then we drove the second vehicle and parked it at the Red Springs parking lot. We scrambled up in Calico and hit the peaks in the following order : 1) Calico Hills South, 2) Calico Hills I Peak, 3) Red Book Peak, 4) Calico Hills II Overlook, 5) Calico Hills II Peak, 6) Calico Tanks Peak, and 7) Turtlehead Jr. We eixited via Sandstone Quarry to our vehicle in the Sandstone Quarry parking lot, drove back to Red Spings parking lot, and picked up the second vehicle. This route has Relentless scrambling and route finding with an abundance of class 3-4+ climbing. I consumed 1.5 liters of water, one toasted marshmallow gel and 2 small slices of cauliflower crust pizza I crammed into my face while moving. Beautiful day.

"11.17.2020~Calico Hills 6 peak Ridge Traverse loop South to North. 7.2 miles, 2,700’ gain, 4:49hrs. Epic accomplishment on this difficult route that not many can do unless they are led. Complicated route finding and tons of relentless scrambling and class 3 climbing. Not sure many women (if any) have done this solo. Took 3 days of recon to figure out the 1st section and I still got a bit hung up today. Super proud of myself. 4:49hrs. Got to the last peak in 3:39 hrs. Very hot on the sandstone today. I sweat a lot. I consumed 2 liters of fluid, 2 slices of cauliflower crust pizza and one piece of healthy cake. Weather person promised clouds and breezes but they never materialized. Peaks included~Calico hills South, Calico Hills 1, Red Book, Calico Tanks East and West and Red Cap (aka Turtlehead Jr.) " — paula.raimondi • Nov 17, 2020
"10.13.2020~5 peaks, 6.2 mile, 3,000’ gain, 5hr (95%) Scramble in the Calico Hills. Red Book, Calico Tank East and West, Red Cap & Tinaja Peaks. Hot Fall Day. With an 11:30am start, 85 deg. and no breeze, it was an inferno on the sandstone. Lots of practice on exposed creepy ledges and class 3-4 climbing. I had some navigational issues on the 1st peak but after that, I got in a flow. I had to ration my water towards the end. Had the place all to myself! I’m beat! https://youtu.be/jt-YwR9uoMA" — paula.raimondi • Oct 13, 2020
"Happy September! 9.1.2020, 3.5 miles, 1,000’ gain in 1:50hrs w/Jimmy. His 1st time doing this cirque. Calico Tanks Peak, Calico Hills II & Red Cap. Still hot for scrambling, especially with a 10:30am start, but we have a high tolerance for heat so we had the place all to ourselves. We wedged this workout between Dr and Dentist appts. "3.30.2020~4 peak solo scramble from Calico Basin. Red Cap Double slot (with a 3rd top slot descent), Calico Tanks East and West Summits and Tinaja Peak. 7.5 miles, 2,800’ gain, 4:55hrs. I wore a doubled up buff over my face for the 1st and last miles near the non-social distancing masses who are in big groups and think it’s vacation time. I picked up trash on the way down Ash canyon. The animals and quiet have taken over Red Rock. I meditated and napped on Red Cap. Amazing. Felt great to do some epic scrambling and running in the warm sunshine. I think they will close Calico Basin. They should. The crowds are non compliant. I won’t go back. I will scramble on the less traveled routes to the summits off 159 and travel to Lovell canyon for Bridge Mtn. I will also work on my White Pinnacle Peak solo and get my 1st Rainbow Peak ascent. Solo.

"10.8.19 Calico Tanks/Red Cap Triple Peak Speed scramble. Got to the 3rd Peak in 1:20hr. Quickie workout before getting the kids. I planned for a 4 Peak but the shoes I tested today were not sticky enough for the crux move heading up to Tinaja Peak. I circled it to find another way but it was hot, hot, hot today with a late start and I ran out of water and energy. Next time I will get the quad! I had to modify my trek and skip some climbs due to the shoes slipping a lot. Great workout. It was nice to bask in the warmth since cooler weather is on its way. " — paula.raimondi • Oct 8, 2019
