"These mountains are in the pass that connects the orchard of Lorca with the coast of Aguilas, between the Sierra de La Carrasquilla and the Sierra de La Almenara. During the Spanish Civil War, machine gun nests were placed in this area to control the passage.
These undulating mountains are covered with low scrub and are quite rocky and partridges and rabbits abound. You can see some abandoned farmhouses and dirt tracks in rough and hostile places due to the lack of water and vegetation. The inhabitants of these areas ended up emigrating to nearby cities seeking better living conditions." — franciscobirruezo • Jan 13, 2024
"This is a quiet area near Purias, a small path near Casa de La Parra takes me to the top between rosemary and esparto plants. The clouds come again loaded with rain. As I go forward I see some ditches and I soon realize that they are old trenches built during the Spanish Civil War,
I see many sections. This is a strategic step from the coast to the interior lands, perhaps that explains its presence in these mountains." — franciscobirruezo • Dec 2, 2019
