"Tried a different route to Bull Mountain and learned that the shortcut has not been maintained in a while. Went through Booger Holler by several buildings on private property including one that burned recently (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1C88LP3HRu/?mibextid=wwXIfr) and an old school bus. Found the shortcut on the way back and bushwhacked around blowdowns." — davidensley • Dec 3, 2025
"Gina and I hiked trail 223C to Bull Mountain from Jones Creek Campground. (Have a passenger get out and guide the driver over the last hill before fording Jones Creek; it is very rough and hard to see the deep pothole on the passenger side just over the hill.) Gina turned back along the east side Bull Mountain as I followed trails 223C and 223 on around Bull Mountain looking for the best way up to the peak. The first ridge we reached on the northeast side looked like a possible bushwhack. The east side of Bull Mountain had steep banks where the trail was cut out of the side of the mountain. The south side had tall briars. I took the west ridge up and found it to be the lightest bushwhack. I meant to go down the northeast ridge but missed it and had to use tree trunks to help me down the steep bank to the trail." — davidensley • Feb 11, 2023
