"Hiked to firetower with Lars, Tory and Abby on the new trail. Rained the night before and early morning so it was misty, foggy and humid. No views at the summit due to cloud cover. Started hike at 11:05am, summited at 11:45am, back to trailhead by 12:45pm" — catearonson • Jul 8, 2025
"Tom and I left Schroon Lake at 6 am to beat the heat and the hikers. Temp 64 degrees and sunny. Upon arriving at the left turn off Rte 30 we were met by a road closure sign. The recent storm had washed out the road however the detour sent us 4 miles farther up 30 to the northern end of Circle Rd. Once there at Little Tupper Lake, we were met with another road closed sign adding .6 miles one way to the hike. In hindsight, that sign should have read road closed ahead as it was actually closed at the trailhead parking lot. Trail was pretty muddy as advertised but easily skirted. Views from the tower were 360 degrees of mtns and lakes. We returned to the car parked at Little Tupper Lake and advised some other hikers to stay in their cars and drive in." — garyogden • Jul 14, 2024
"Short hike, but very nice thru the forest. Trail crews have done an outstanding job with the stone steps, wood ladders and planking. Quite muddy in a number of areas, but no bugs and the weather was perfect. The fire tower looked pristine and felt very secure. Views from the cab were great with a few of the high peaks toward the Northeast and Little Tupper Lake prominent." — TJandMS • Jun 15, 2024
