"Because the southern third of the National Park loop was still closed, and going to Peck Hill the N.P. High Point was a few hours hike out and back from the closed section, I settled for the park's highest prominence peak, Buck Hill. This was once also thought to be the park's highest point until more accurate measurements determined Peck Hill to be a few feet higher. I was able to drive relatively close to the trailhead for this hill. A brief climb up the hill opposite Buck Hill revealed a cool look down the canyon. I then went over and walked up the mostly paved path up to Buck Hill's open summit, which was quite windy today. But the 360 degree views were pretty awesome. I didn't spend much time there since I had to backtrack on the loop road, and be on my way to this year's Highpointers Konvention in Rapid City South Dakota." — SteveM_StickMan • Jul 17, 2024
"There was a bison near the base of the hill. I had to work my way around him. I did not take pictures at that time. On 29 December 2012 I took a poor picture of this hill from the top of Peck Hill. " — bobneugebauer • May 17, 1998
