"Lovely, moderate hike up in the beautiful San Emigdio Mountains. Great views when not overcast, which it was at times, but there were openings in the clouds at times to reveal Mt. Pinos, Lockwood Valley, and the southern San Joaquin Valley to the Tehachapis and southern Sierra Nevada. Lots of lovely Singleleaf Pinyon Pines. Many Jeffrey Pines and White Firs, some of which, however, are dying due to drought and bark beetles. Nice workout without being overly strenuous. There are campgrounds near Brush Mountain as well. The summit has a register, a tiny plastic Tupperware with paper and pen to sign your name, which I did. Wonderful weather, meaning cool to chilly, made the hike even better. With a 4wd, it is possible to drive to the top, but where is the fun in that? I also hiked up beautiful San Emigdio Mountain (7,495') after my ascent of Brush Mountain." — brianpowell • Oct 15, 2016
