"From Goldscleugh. Took the RoW up the Lambden Valley, through a stand of pine trees, then up to the col between the two hills. Followed a path SE by the fence up to the summit of Broadhope Hill first. Then retuned to the col for an initial steeper ascent up to the top of Preston Hill. Then headed NW to a wind shelter, and pathless down to join a track back to Goldscleugh. Then took the lane down to Coldburn. Solo. Hot & sunny, with a light westerly breeze." — marktrengove2 • Jun 17, 2021
"Overcast but dry. Set off the Langleeford up Hawsen Burn. Couldn't find the cairn on the top possibly because of heather. Looked like there were two possible summits, so bagged them both. Headed off towards Preston Hill." — NorthernWayfarer • May 31, 2018
"After a few days of wet weather, the sun came out and we had a forecast of good weather until mid afternoon. We set off from the roadhead in the Langleeford valley, followed a faint path up Hawsen Burn, which after half a mile joined a better track, which wound its way at an easy angle up into the Cheviot Hills. We reached the col between Scald Hill and Broadhope Hill, where the going underfoot was very wet. Here we turned N and headed up to the summit of Broadhope Hill, where there was no summit cairn, but a stone pillar near the summit with the inscription SH. Here we had good views of The Cheviot and other nearby hills. From the summit we headed down WNW, crossed stream and then headed up alongside the remains of a wood, to the summit of Preston Hill, where again, no summit cairn, but good views across to The Schil and The Cheviot. As if on cue, the weather deteriorated quite suddenly and dark clouds rolled in, we set off due S into the Lambden valley, then headed E and back up to the col between Broadhope Hill and Scald Hill. Here we retraced our steps down to the Hawsen valley and reached the road just it started to rain." — davidlong • Jun 26, 2012
