"First elevation hike of the year. Went up north loop to bristlecone peak, then to Fletcher peak, took the detour over to rain tree, then descended wild horse canyon. Great day to be outdoors. " — maggielynn • May 10, 2025

"Debut hike of the 2025 season! Fletcher via the standard NLT, with a stop at Bristlecone on the descent. Trail is mostly clear of snow, a few crossings here & there which can also be avoided if desired. Can't wait to get back up there!" — DudeAlmighty • Apr 24, 2025

"I went up to North Loop & it wasn't super crowded, so I decided to hike up. I didn't have a set plan, just to go up as far as I could. I was unsure of how much snow was still up there. My knee has been bothering me & this was my first hike at higher elevation since fall. I did really well & even passed a group of 3 in their 20s on the way up. I decided I'd go to Raintree. When I got to the turn off for Fletcher, I decided I'd try it, even though it looked like there was still a lot of snow. It wasn't bad at all & in place where there was deep snow, I stepped in a previous hiker's tracks. Never needed to put on spikes. Made a painting up top & visited Raintree on the way back down. Trotted down the NL trail back to my Jeep. Didn't even realize until I got back to the car that I had been over Bristlecone Peak too (twice- haha!). It's easy to miss! Weather was perfect & I was so glad I did this. I hadn't been to Fletcher in years & hadn't been up NL in many, many years because they get so crowded. Only saw a few people all day! Snow was pretty on all the peaks, but it's melting really fast." — StudioHoodoo • Apr 13, 2025

"8.22.24~ Mummy Mtn (as the crow flies from Deer Creek Hwy), Mummy’s Toe, Mummy Springs, Raintree & Raintree/aka Bristlecone, in that order. 8.5 miles, 4,000’ gain. What a slog. I was 90% protected from the high winds except on the Summits and near saddles where is sounded like a freight train. Great weather. It was chilly if I sat too long. Super peaceful and lonely, just the way I like it." — paula.raimondi • Aug 22, 2024

"By parking (legally) a bit down from North Loop Trailhead, you can avoid the weekend sh*tshow at NLT. Deadhorse ridge has gotten pretty popular. Currently Deer Cr Picnic area is closed, so that parking is almost empty. After I left Deadhorse, I went cross country to the first peak, mostly in open areas with little brush." — hwstock • Jun 9, 2024

"I started the hike at 10 AM and started up the rocky trail until I reached the wilderness boundary, where I took some pictures and continued up the trail to the Showgirl trail. The saddle has Bristlecone pines and then after that saddle I went up 12 switchbacks past scenic viewpoints and snow patches. Then I climbed Bristlecone peak and the summit had nice views and a cairn. Than I rejoined the trail and then went through some Bristlecone pines and passed the Fletcher Peak trail to go to the Raintree. The Raintree and the surrounding bristlecones are very cool. Then I went back along the trail to summit Fletcher Peak. The trail passed through a bald saddle, some Bristlecone pines, and eventually some snow. Than once I reached the summit it was very nice. The summit had amazing views of the Spring Mountains and the desert. It also has a sign and ammo box. " — lc444 • May 28, 2024

"Up North Loop to ridge to Bristlecone Peak, back down to North Loop to Fletcher trail to Fletcher Peak, back to North Loop, over to Raintree, back to Bristlecone Peak then down Wildhorse Canyon with Daisy." — acekelly • May 24, 2024

"First high elevation hike of the season to acclimate for summer hiking. Still quite a bit of snow on the higher peaks, but the trail was clear to our destination today. I forgot how good the pines smell and the weather was perfect. Great day with my honey and puppy. " — maggielynn • May 15, 2024

"Well, we were intending to do Fletcher Peak with halfway-loaded backpacks (~25-30 lbs), but we didn't make the final push. The first part of North Loop Trail was pretty snow free, which was expected. The ridgeline to the saddle near Bristlecone Peak was still completely covered in snow, though. We went straight up the ridgeline (and I finally nabbed Bristlecone Peak, which I had never detoured off of NLT for in the past), and then back down to pick up the Fletcher Peak trail from the north loop trail. More and more snow which we gingerly picked over - why oh why did I not have my microspikes in my pack yet again....? And then we decided that with the time of day and our late start, we were just going to call it at the saddle before the ascent to Fletcher. We got a good 2K of gain at elevation with heavier backpacks, and we had spent the morning at Lone Mountain park practicing crevasse rescue (much to the amusement of everyone around us) for four hours, so we weren't even starting until after noon. I'm just tired of how covid has kicked my ass with regards to elevation. I feel like having Covid in December 2020 knocked me back a good 5-7 years in my fitness. I am bitter about it an..." — psychikingjes • Apr 9, 2022

"Winter ascent from the North Loop. Post-holing wasn't a significant issue, but microspikes were useful. Beautiful windless day and relatively warm. Just under five hours round trip." — daviddeang • Jan 24, 2022
