"Well, we were intending to do Fletcher Peak with halfway-loaded backpacks (~25-30 lbs), but we didn't make the final push. The first part of North Loop Trail was pretty snow free, which was expected. The ridgeline to the saddle near Bristlecone Peak was still completely covered in snow, though. We went straight up the ridgeline (and I finally nabbed Bristlecone Peak, which I had never detoured off of NLT for in the past), and then back down to pick up the Fletcher Peak trail from the north loop trail. More and more snow which we gingerly picked over - why oh why did I not have my microspikes in my pack yet again....? And then we decided that with the time of day and our late start, we were just going to call it at the saddle before the ascent to Fletcher. We got a good 2K of gain at elevation with heavier backpacks, and we had spent the morning at Lone Mountain park practicing crevasse rescue (much to the amusement of everyone around us) for four hours, so we weren't even starting until after noon. I'm just tired of how covid has kicked my ass with regards to elevation. I feel like having Covid in December 2020 knocked me back a good 5-7 years in my fitness. I am bitter about it an..." — psychikingjes • Apr 9, 2022

"Winter ascent from the North Loop. Post-holing wasn't a significant issue, but microspikes were useful. Beautiful windless day and relatively warm. Just under five hours round trip." — daviddeang • Jan 24, 2022

"Ritch and I hiked up Hummingbird Hollow to Fletcher Peak, where we met up with Amber and Richard. From there, we hiked the Fletcher Peak Trail back to North Loop Trail, where we met up with Corey, Paul and their dogs Wile E & Lincoln. We hiked up to Bristlecone Peak, then descended Wild Horse Canyon. We got a ride back to the HH Trailhead. Nice temps, but a bit windy." — Kevin • Aug 21, 2021

"Today was a struggle. Amber was sore from her fall yesterday & I didn’t sleep well, but we still managed to drag ourselves out of the house. We were rewarded with great weather and a nice descent down Wild Horse Canyon. " — Kevin • Jun 13, 2021

"The plan was to try for a snow climb of Mummy's Toe, but once again, the snow was far too powdery. We bagged Bristlecone Peak before sunrise, then continued to Mummy Springs before heading down Deer Creek." — Kevin • Mar 28, 2021

"There is still snow along the trail, but not enough to use snowshoes or crampons. Microspikes and poles are helpful. We headed up to Bristlecone Peak first, then over to Fletcher. We took a more direct route back, straight down a snow slope for a bit more fun. " — Kevin • Mar 7, 2021

"Wanted to get some elevation before Colorado and was tired of the same old peaks. I hadn't been to Mummy's Toe in a couple of years, so that's what we decided on. Took the North Loop Trail up, with a short side trip to Bristlecone Peak. One we hit Mummy Springs, the path to Mummy's Toe was a bit easier to follow than on previous ascents. On the way down, we decided to take Deer Creek for something different. " — Kevin • Aug 30, 2020

"Hiked up North Loop Trail, then took the north ridge to Bristlecone Peak before meeting back up with NLT briefly and taking the path to Fletcher Peak. Corey met us at the summit and we hiked down the NLT together." — Kevin • Aug 23, 2020

"Started the hike from the North Loop Trail-head. The trail goes in the direction of Bristlecone Peak and nearly climbs to the top. I had missed the turnoff for the trail to the upper portion of Bristlecone Peak, but instead was concentrating on Fletcher Peak. In about 2.5 miles from the start, I spotted the Fletcher Peak Trail breaking off to the left. However, instead of taking it, I continued on to Raintree (the oldest bristlecone pine in the Spring Mountains) which was about a tenth of a mile away. Since I was so close, I felt the need to visit, which I am glad that I did. I then backtracked to the unsigned Fletcher Peak Trail and took it this time. The trail is surprisingly good and makes a moderate climb to the summit. On the way back down the summit trail, I felt a little sleepy, so I pressed up next to a shady bristlecone pine and took a cat nap. It was such a relaxing day in the Spring Mountains, that I couldn't help but to relax along with it. I felt much more alert as I got back up and headed to Bristlecone Peak in my current leisurely pace. This time I noticed the rock cairn that identified the use trail that leads to the summit. I took the pathway and quickly..." — MikeTeeples • Jun 23, 2020

"12.16.19. Fletcher Peak (10,319’ above the sea),+Bristlecone Peak (x2) w/Maia, 6.2 miles, 2,500’ gain, in snow and 17 degree temps. I dropped the kids to school and with our 10:30am start, I was back in Henderson by 3:30pm in time For Autumns Winter Choral Concert late day. Thanks for a great activity @maiabirdygoat . Glad I can still do work in the high elevation. My 1st time snow trekking without poles! I was happy I have good strength and balance without them. Never thought to try that.
