I drove the 5 hours from Cheaha Mt. in 'Bama to this Georgia HP the same day. I wanted to get this one in because I planned on hiking Springer Mt. the next day. The weather cleared nicely so I had great views from the observation tower on top, even though the visitor center was closed for the day. Basically had the mountain to myself, with just an occasional person coming to join me. 3rd HP so far this trip. Next stop - Amicalola Falls S.P., arriving just as it was getting dark.
