"It was a perilous trip to summit Boot Hill. One of the most difficult ascents I can remember! It was starting to get dark and I was climbing with my dog and best friend, Mr. Pierre. We were about 2/3 the way up when Mr. Pierre bolted from my arms. I called for him, but he just kept trekking up to the summit. Well next thing you know, Mr. Pierre stopped and I was able to grab him and I looked around and we had done it! We summited Boot Hill! And oh my, was the view gorgeous! Mr. Pierre and I could look down on the rooftop of Montana Mike's Steakhouse." — Francois • Mar 5, 2015

"As far as I can determine, Boot Hill is the 12th highest named summit in Kansas. The summit is located in an enclosure behind a museum in Dodge City, Kansas. The fee, as of 2014, to go through the museum and visit Boot Hill was $9. My son, Marshall, and I were lucky, however, because when we explained our interest in only climbing the hill and not touring the museum to the cashier, she allowed us to climb Boot Hill for free! If we had had more time, I feel the $9 fee would have been worth it. There is a rich aura of history here and we could have spent several hours enjoying the museum. As you might expect, the summit of Boot Hill still has marked graves, but according to one sign, most of the bodies were moved from their graves to another cemetery in the past as the town expanded over Boot Hill. There is no view from the summit, since it is surrounded by a high wooden fence, but there are many grave markers with interesting bits of history to read. " — Stewy • Mar 24, 2014
