"Started out around 07:30 from the Marcy Field parking area. Only one car in the lot near the opposite end, & I did not see a single person out when I was on trail. About 40 degrees at the start. The trail had fewer trail marker discs than is typical, but was very easy to follow.
The first portion of the hike is nearly a dirt road, turning left into the woods shortly after. From there it was a pleasant mostly squishy, obstacle-free path with slight gain.
I shed my fleece pretty quickly into the hike. After the first tiny stream crossing, the trail got rockier with more roots, and I surprised at how many offshoot herd paths existed around very benign trail features, such as a couple of steps up rocks, a small swath of black mud, and short runs of bare rock. The path was quite wide in some places, or had two or three little paths off the side to dodge the actual trail features.
Following the second small stream crossing, the trail turned into very loose soil with lots of small, loose rocks & exposed roots. It also headed uphill in a hurry! I took my time and picked my way upward.
Nearer the top, the trail underfoot became huge exposed slabs of stone. My Solomon’s never..." — kellieirene • Sep 27, 2023
"Hiked with Brother Dean today. Left Marcy Field at 7:44 am in a steady rain. My second trip up Blueberry on my way to complete my Keene Valley 10 challenge with a summit of Little Porter." — garyogden • Aug 16, 2023
"Hiked to all three via the Porter Ridge Trail starting at Marcy Field. The total mileage out and back was 10.2 taking 8 hrs & 45 min. Little Porter finished my Keene Valley 10 Challenge." — billsussdorff • Jul 17, 2023
"Tom and I departed Marcy Field trailhead at 7:35 @ 68 degrees under calm blue skies and high humidity. The trail up was dry for the most part. After crossing the brook the second time we lost the trail momentarily but the Peakery app put us back on trail. From there the trail turns steep to the summit. Several nice but hazy views were enjoyed before summiting at 8:44. The temps and humidity were both rising by then. Great views were abundant! Returned to car at 10.25." — garyogden • Aug 6, 2022
"Part of a traverse with Nancy over Porter to Cascade. A steep climb that never leveled out for long. Wooded climb up wet streams and rooted paths. Not well traveled. Open views of Great Range and others. Pretty green colors speckled the valleys. Windy at times, but not cold. Bugs were kept at bay!" — lfrancois • May 26, 2022
"Solo yet again atop Blueberry-Porter Mountain this morning. The sky was hazy creating some crazy colors with the sun. Still some slight foliage in spots that is hanging on. Struggled with some thoughts at the summit today as I looked down on the angered and triggered world below. Most don’t read these captions, so I’ll keep those thoughts to myself. Anyway it was a nice morning with some pretty views of Hurricane Mountain, Hopkins Mountain, Giant Mountain, and then off to the Great Range looking from East to West. " — scottturner • Oct 18, 2020
"Did a traverse with Kathryn and Tom of Cascade, Porter and Blueberry mountain from RT 73 to the Keene Valley airport. Beautiful weather and great views on our way down from Porter over Blueberry even seeing our air BnB barn on airport road in Keene Valley. Ridge trail certainly doesn’t see a lot of use at Porter end so it’s a bit narrow in spots kind of like a herd path. Kathryn is up to #27 on her 46r quest and Tom got his first repeat peaks.

"Cold start to the day as the temp was 3 degrees when I hit the trail. The trail was hard to find in a couple of spots as markers were few & far between. The
upper sections were a bit icy & the micro spikes came in handy. Views from the top were amazing with Hurricane, Giant, Dix, etc. all there for the taking." — billsussdorff • Jan 18, 2020
"Ugh. I'll be honest, not my favourite hike ever... But that's not a reflection on this mountain in any way.. just this particular hike in the dead of winter. The weather forecast said "a mix of sun and clouds", but that changed when we got there. Just clouds. No views. An unintentional somersault, and a few unintentional "butt-slides"...
But hey. I would take this hike over staying at home being bored. " — RangersApprentice • Dec 30, 2017
"Our last Winter hike of the Year, and First of this Winter season. Lot's of snow towards the top, very icy for the first section. Views were none existant dues to low cloud. But, still a great day in the Mountains." — HikingViking • Dec 30, 2017
