"Our first hike of the day. We came in from the western side. The peak is meh for views. Some decent views on the western side. Hazy day. First hike of the day. Onwards to Black. " — newenglandwarrior • Sep 3, 2023
"Nora, Pam and I took Kali and Brooklyn up the east side of Blueberry Mountain in Benton/Warren. it was a fairly hot day so we left home early to try to beat the heat. The trail was nice and easy to follow with a very few slightly muddy spots, but nothing bad at all. Ledges were fun and the views were decent, but there weren't really any perfect views anywhere that we went. We went just a tiny bit beyond the summit to see if there were better views, and Pam went part way down the west side, finding one decent viewpoint. This is a moderate to easy hike. I forgot to look what time we started hiking, but it was probably around 8:30AM. We spent a little bit of time wandering around the ledges up top and were down by noon. Nice hike, but not as view worthy as some of the other mountains on the 52 with a View list.

"Decided to work on 52wav early in the morning....hit blueberry and then headed to black. This trail was a little different than I found online....there is a gated road that you must park outside of and head in...watch for trail signs (there is a number 4 at the entrance to see the trail sign for this one). There were a few misplaced cairns....guessing these were made by people who didnt understand what they are for and that they are not supposed to make them. Great shorter hike and beautiful views of Moosilauke. " — shay-shay • Jun 20, 2017
"Big mountain effort for a small mountain! A long slog to the summit due to trail/snow conditions. Snowshoes all day. Lost trail near the summit. No blazes visible and no cairns. Bushwacked around until regained the trail. On return it was clear that there should have been a double blaze for a turn where we missed it! Weather was great." — goshen-bagger • Mar 26, 2017
"Beautiful day. Almost 60 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. The trail was muddy and there were some icy portions, but it was a pretty easy hike. Splendid views of snow-capped Moosilauke." — RSperling • Mar 12, 2016
"52 With a View Trifecta: Stinson, Blueberry, and Black (Benton)
On most weekend days, one hike would suffice my desire to get outside. But this wasn’t your ordinary Saturday. What was supposed to be a one-off hike of Smarts Mountain with a group of college kids at the College Get Outside Weekend turned into a marathon of peaks, back to back to back.
Lauren and I stayed at AMC’s Cardigan Lodge with a large group of college kids, some of whom were potentially going to hike with us. However, it didn’t seem as if people were diggin’ our idea, so we ended up all alone. No matter, we figured, we would go off and do our own thing.
Looking at the map, it appeared as if we were closest to Stinson Mountain, and since I plan to complete the 52 With a View list someday, that appeared to be the best option. But when we flew up the uneventful mountain in 45 minutes, we realized that we would need to occupy the remainder of our day elsewhere.
Atop the not-so-impressive summit of Stinson, we reexamined our options. If we wanted to finish off the day sweaty and tired, it made the most sense to do Blueberry Mountain. And hey, what the heck, Benton sounded like a good idea as well.

"The first hike of the day between Blueberry and Black Mtns. Went up the western side of the mountain. Tricky to follow at first due to logging roads and lack of blazes. Decent views to the west on some ledges just below the summit. The true summit, a detour from the trail, has a decent view of Mooseilauke, but Black is far better." — newenglandwarrior • May 20, 2015
