"Finally got to return and complete this hike. Last time I tried it, it was winter, and I was breaking trail in snowshoes. I ran out of time then. I suspected at the time that I was close to the summit, and today, I confirmed that I was probably less than a quarter mile when I turned back. This trail is short, but it's pretty steep and really gets the heart pumping over the 1.2 miles up. The pay-off is a fairly open summit with views in all directions. I could see nearby Mt. Blue, the Jacksons, Saddleback, the rocky, open summit of Abraham, and much more. The only downer was that I had apparently missed peak foliage. A lot of the leaves were gone, and the colors were drab. All in all, it was a great hike, and I was thankful to get back out there. I need to keep it up from now until the end of the year!" — mikewilliamsjr • Oct 10, 2023
"Tried like hell to make the summit. Had to break trail the entire way in snowshoes. Snow was deeeeep. Also had to hoof it up the road in spikes, because my car couldn't make it all the way on the icy road. Thankfully they plow a lot part way up for that reason (I suspect). I had a pretty hard turnaround time and went 15 minutes over it before turning back, maybe 1/10 of a mile from the top. I knew it would take time to plow my way up the last steep pieces, so I had to give up. Great day out anyway. " — mikewilliamsjr • Feb 17, 2022
"Great day for a hike, but apparently the camp dog didn't think so. No sign of the dog this morning so we climbed the mountain dog-less. The views were very good and the breeze on the summit was chilly. " — bwright • Oct 19, 2013
