"Tom, Black and I left the trailhead at 8:11 am under cloudy skies @ 37 degrees. Trail was mixed ice, snow and bare ground. First trip of the year traveling bare booted. Good views from the summit. On to Mason." — garyogden • Mar 27, 2022

"Started from the trail-head off Route 9. It was -5 when we started, sunny, and light wind, but warmed up throughout the day A few inches of snow, some ice patches, and steep sections during the hike, micro-spikes/crampons were needed. A lot of up and downs, great views of Pharaoh wilderness, Dix range, and Green Mountains the entire hike. Beware of false summits. Overall, difficult hike, but worth it for the views. Out and back was 7.75 miles in 5 hours, with a number of quick stops. 3,375 total elevation gain." — gregoryskiba • Jan 16, 2022

"First hike towards the Adirondack 46er challenge. Left from Rt. 9N trailhead (New Russia); hiked over Blueberry Cobbles, Mason Mt., Bald Peak, Rocky Peak, to Rocky Peak Ridge." — hunterjfrost • Sep 8, 2020

"Snowing off & on for most of the hike with views from the Cobbles nonexistent. Met a couple starting on a week long trip doing Giant, Dix, etc. We kept
our distance & chatted briefly." — billsussdorff • Mar 31, 2020

"Solo thru-hike from New Russia on Memorial Day 2019. No snow left, bugs swarming below 3,000 feet, trail mostly dry and well maintained. Very steep and LOTS of ups-and-downs, ups-and-downs coming over from New Russia. Do not underestimate this route! Beautiful day and scenic hike though." — ndru-virus • May 27, 2019

"Wow ,, what a day chasing RPR today,#22 ADK 46er to Rocky Peak Ridge Via New Russia, Trails were in great shape No Amazing shape with "some" snow on the upper north sides of the higher elevations which were easily passable with out leaving the main trail, A few wet and muddy spots to cross but no more then you would see after a good rain in july,, black flies were terrible though, some new light trail maintenance along the trail, new lines painted on rocky summits and a couple water crossing along the way,, Great day with Awesome company, " — ramjet1963 • May 19, 2019

"A perfect day to hike up Rocky Peak via the New Russia trail head! It was cool, a little breezy but clear skies up over the 3 smaller summits and onto the ridge to the summit of Rocky. Great day if hiking!" — hbotc • Sep 22, 2018

"Solo. Hiked on my way to Bald Peak. There was some strangeness on this hike, beginning before I even properly parked at the trailhead.
I showed up around 8am, and as I put my directional on to turn into the trailhead parking lot, saw a tall man standing directly in my way. Seeing where I was going, he took a few steps back to allow me through, and I proceeded to the far end of the lot- past a grey SUV that was parked sideways right in the middle of the damn lot- the only other car there. As I parked & started to gather my gear, a woman cut the SUV’s engine, got out, locked it, & proceeded to stand at the entrance of the trailhead. Now this couple was standing there, not talking, arms crossed, looking surly as all get-out, staring at the road. I threw my wallet into my pack as a precaution before I started my hike. I never saw the couple again. Were they waiting for their hiking companions to join them at the trailhead, then decided not to hike at all because they didn’t show up? (Who does that?) If they were, why not park like a proper human being & start gathering your gear? I dunno, it was unsettling.
Anyway, after pushing through some foliage, this trail was weird AF. Th..." — kellieirene • Sep 7, 2018

"First stop on the way to Rocky Peak Ridge, on a VERY HOT day. This is one peak that doesn't have to be climbed to get RPR, but of course we did anyway, would be rude not to :-)" — RangersApprentice • Sep 23, 2017

"The first of 5 peaks Today. A short hike to the summit of Blueberry Cobbles before heading out to RPR. Probably the hottest day in the peaks this year. Nice little summit with some good views of the surrounding peaks." — HikingViking • Sep 23, 2017
