Nora, Kali and I headed up Chippewa Trail to the summit of Black Mountain in the Benton area from a rather full parking area. We met a lot of other hikers out on this nice day.

A good part of the trail was covered in pine needles and fairly slippery on the steep sections because of them. They did make the trail very pretty though.

The views from the ledges at the top and just below the summit were amazing. Fall colors, layers of mountains in the distance and of course, Mt Moosilauke right across from us in all its autumn glory.

We sat on the summit for about 45 minutes and had lunch, then headed down with way too many pictures taken.

Great hike and, due to the GPS telling us probably the longest possible way to get to and from the trailhead to home, a very long day.
