"I’m raising a big Family of 4 teens/tweens so I can’t get a lot of new peaks that require travel and time. This Mom job is one of the most complex, rewarding and under appreciated jobs that exists and would bring most people to their knees. I’m not the most brave or accomplished mountaineer you’ll ever meet. Not even close. I don’t care about peak lists, keeping up with this person or that person climbing this peak or that peak…I’m satisfied working my body hard no matter where I am. I do what I can cram into my day. I’m happy I live in the most stunning area where I can revisit peaks I have fallen in love with and run in the most scenic landscapes on earth (in between taking care of the Family and household) There are more peaks within 100 miles in every direction of my home I will never have time to climb my lifetime. Don’t compare yourself to others. You never know what they have on their plate. Comparison is the thief of joy. "3.17.2021~Black Canyon, AZ. St. Paddy’s Day Liberty & Justice 4 All, 4 peak tour. Justice (1,678’), Liberty Bell Peak & Point & Black Canyon Overlook. 8 miles, 2,300’ gain, 4:38hrs. I took the Liberty Bell trail and dropped down west towards the River for Justice Peak. I wasted an hour picking the wrong ascent route and searching below a cliff band for a break. I trended to the south and found a reasonable ridge up. The views were pretty and it was directly across the River from an exciting peak I did a month ago (Lizard Horn, Head & Back) I ascended Liberty Bell Peak, Point and BC O’lk from the rugged western side and jogged trails back. The Colorado River was a gorgeous emerald green. It’s getting hot in Black Canyon. I saw ducks migrating, a Giant Red tailed hawk and a fat, ring talked lizard in a shrub eating daisy petals. "I had to miss the group hike w/Kevin & Amber and the rest of the gang the day before because of a prior commitment (woo work), but I wanted to get out and hike this weekend. Ken (who also missed the hike to Redstone Peak yesterday) and I agreed to hike to the Liberty Bell Arch - he had done it before several years ago, but I had never been to the Arch (or even to Arizona Hot Springs). We took a side route down a very cool wash that had a narrow slot canyon portion to it before rejoining the main wash/route to Liberty Bell Arch. After the routes to Liberty Bell and AZ Hot Springs diverged, we also took a small side-detour to an abandoned mine. We followed that small wash down to rejoin the main trail. Once we reached the arch (and I took my requisite million photographs), we continued on up to the overlook of Black Canyon and the Colorado River. We sat, enjoyed the view, ate some snacks.... and I stared and stared at the high point of the Liberty Bell Arch rock. It had to be on Peakery! I had to get the summit! Ken made me check if it was (and I had cell service), and once we verified that yes, this would count, we packed up and headed over to grab the peak. "10 miles. Run to the River with a side trip to Liberty bell and the Colorado overlook, skinny dip in the Colorado River after running down White Rock Canyon, up through the Hot Springs and Hot Springs Canyon Via the (easy) class 3 Petroglyphs Canyon exit.
