"8.7.2020~Bird Spring Range HP (#3) & Bird Benchmark (1st). 15 miles, 2,400’ gain, 4:40hrs (12 miles E-Mtn Bike, 3 miles Hike.) Temps dropped a bit today so I thought to immerse myself in the late afternoon warmth in these high desert Mountains west of town near Goodsprings, NV. It was still hot late day in the full sun but I was in heaven regardless. I love this Range. The 360 views are incredible and the remote solitude is peaceful. From the summits I could see the black burn scar area from a recent lightning fire on the East flanks of Mt Potosi in Cottonwood Valley. https://youtu.be/d8RqBgc8v2A" — paula.raimondi • Aug 7, 2020
"We drove up Cottonwood Valley Road from Goodsprings and turned onto the road that heads towards Bird Spring Range Highpoint. We parked about 1/4 mile or so down the road, at the cattle guard. From there, we hiked the dirt road up to the highpoint. It was steep in places. There was an ATV that had recently rolled down the side of the hill about 100 feet or so. No bodies or bones around it, luckily. From the highpoint, we traversed the ridge over to Bird Peak, which had far fewer names in the register. We descended the north/south gully between the peaks and intersected the dirt road at the end of the gully, which we took back to the car. Other than the cold wind, we had a pretty good day." — Kevin • Dec 17, 2017
"I traversed from the Historic town of Goodsprings to another Historic Town, Blue Diamond bagging 3 new Peaks along the way. 26.5 one way miles, 3,700’ gain in 7:21 hrs. Bird Springs Peak, Cottonwood Peak and North Cottonwood Peak. It was the most amazing solo running tour of an area I’ve ever experienced. The beauty of the back road area Blew my Mind. Solitude for miles. I ran/scampered Jeep trails, single track, cross country, on the ridge of a giant Bluff, some pavement and the Historic Old Spanish Trail, all the while bagging 3 new peaks. I saw a huge herd of wild horses too. My family met me near the end. Amazing!!! I named this the Wild Horse Spirit fun Run! It lived up to its name." — paula.raimondi • Dec 10, 2017
