10.15.2020. Solo. 2 peaks in the Newberry Mtns., South of Searchlight, NV. Pinto Benchmark and Friends, then a drive over to Bill Gays Butte (a short and scenic hill which I did only because the name sounds funny). 15 mile day, 7 Mtn bike, 8 on foot, 2,000’ gain. Very warm in the open desert with a high of 90 degrees. Beautiful desert flats that lead to historic cattle ranches, dramatic mountains and views of the mighty Colorado River. I happened upon a small creepy graveyard of humans and pets near Searchlight, NV.
