"This was a fantastic day! We started up from Blue Point Spring and followed the ridge up to Blue Point. From there, we traversed all the way to Bighorn Peak. The views were tremendous all the way across the ridge. The hike was a little tougher than we were ready for, but we made it.The only thing that sucked was the icy morning wind." — Kevin • Feb 26, 2022
"3.21.2020~Blue Point, North Fires 5 peak Ridge Traverse, NE Muddy Mtns, 11.5 mile sustained out and back Ridge surf, 4,500’ gain, 7:26hrs w/Jimmy. Blue Point, 3,235’, North Fire Peak~East Summit, North Fire Peak & Bighorn Peak. This route was suggested to me by Crystal. I appreciate her generosity, sharing this route with me. She is one of the top female solo Mountaineers in our area and I greatly admire her. This route had some of the most spectacular 360 views of The Valley of Fire/Virgin Mtns, Morman Mtns/Overton Arm of Lake Mead/White Basin/Gold Butte along the entire way! It was unique to see Jumbo Peak and others in Gold Butte, with snow. Today was a sufferfest and quad massacre of epic proportions but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There was some thrilling class 3+ up and down-climb on one of the lumps too and Jimmy handled it well. Adam and Frances were also out there doing a big loop and we were lucky enough with timing to intersect them on North Fire Peak (with appropriate social distance). It was nice to see them again. We drove to Echo Bay after to soak our weary bodies in the cold water. Perfect day. Felt good to forget about reality and feed the spirit and soul. We..." — paula.raimondi • Mar 21, 2020
"What a great day! Peak 4 of Fire Ridge traverse. I had been across most of this ridge, but had not been all the way out to Bighorn Peak. I had my doubts I could do it on such a short day, but I made it back to the Jeep before I needed a headlamp! Started later than I wanted, at 8am. Made the rough trek across the ridge much faster than I like to hike. The views are outstanding. I recommend doing this in spring when the days are longer, so you can take your time & enjoy. This is one of my favorite hikes in southern NV. Trip total is for all 4 peaks along the ridge." — StudioHoodoo • Dec 15, 2018
