"Gorgeous views of SF and North Bay, Lucas Valley drive itself was great. Had a good view of Skywalker Ranch. Got pretty windy which should have been a sign for soon to be cancelled bioluminescence kayak trip" — ashep • Mar 6, 2021
"Long day of miscellaneous Marin County peak bagging: #1 Barnabe Mountain via Bill's Trail. #2 Big Rock Ridge from Lucas Canyon Road. #3 Little Peak via East Ridge use trail. #4 Burdell Mountain from Olompali State Park. Lots of gently graded trails so it was easy to mix in some trail running. Totals: ~24 mi, 4800 ft gain." — klotito • Feb 28, 2021
"Hike up from Big Rock. Pressed for time so took a few shortcuts up the maddeningly low-gradient trail (better suited for mtn bikes or a trailrunning ascent). Perfect temps in the mid 60s. Another great outing in my son's quest to finish the Marin 25, only 6 to go." — scott • Nov 14, 2020
"Amazing day, nice cool breeze, San Fran under a fog. Smooth , straight forward hike. Some good elevation spots but for the most part just a steady hike. Parked across from the Big Rock. " — puddlepirate • Dec 29, 2016
"Crushed by this SF Bay Area Classic... ran up from the Queenstone Fire Road TH. Running pace slowed way way down as hit each brutal steep spurt of fire road hell. But each spurt was followed by a brief level section... perfect to savor the broad, airy views. With all the rain recently, everything looks so awesome at the height-of-green.
After climbing 1000 vert, got the first view of actual highest point of ridge... soooo far away. Almost bailed but kept hanging on at a tortoise pace. Chipped away at it. Went out-of-body on final third of climb and made it to the summit just in time to see the sun setting on Mt. Tam to the south -- breathtaking.
BUT... this climb had already taken all my breath. Time to head down and race the darkness. Summit in ~1 hr. RT 9.1 mi, 1:51, 2619 ft vert" — scott • Jan 20, 2016
