I left a technical, snowy AT and ran along the jeep road on top of the ridge. It was solid, non-technical earth, so I made up a lot of time along my 15-mile journey. It was icy in spots, and then there were areas where the earth gave way into large muddy puddles. I'm not certain if this area gets much more rain than others, but the mud puddles are impressive.
