A well hidden treasure, it was only by mistake that I discovered this mountain was on public land. I had hiked Meyer Ranch for years, and seen this mountain hundreds of times, and never knew it was accessible to the public. It is registered as part of Denver Mountain Parks, but you will find no mention of it on their sight.
Only a quarter mile up the trail we ran into some trouble, and lost the path in a section that has been clear cut and wood chipped which erased the path, but we were able to find the path again once our accent cleared the cut zone and got back into the trees. This climb has plenty of trees and vegetation providing plenty of shade the whole way up, and plenty of wild life and wild flowers to keep the hike interesting. A rock pinnacle to the north west near the summit, provides a wonderful place to relax take a break, and take in the views that the summit will not, as it is covered in trees.
It was a wonderful hike, suited to beginners, and the avid mountain climber alike. My wife and I spent almost five hours exploring the mountain, and only met two other people. I can't wait to further explore this small gem, but will give no information to the trail head, a hike like this is worth finding on your own.
