Route: North Face car park (busy!) - CMD - CMD arête - Ben Nevis (busy!) - Ledge Route down to the CIC hut - Allt a’ Mhuilinn path back
Weather: Perfect! Just right for a long day doing a classic Munro round with some grade 1 scrambling. Lazed around on the Ben’s summit for about 45min in warm sunshine plus took a dip in the Allt a’ Mhuilinn! Above the cloud for a bit while the overnight fog burnt off.

"Took this in before summiting Ben Nevis. Pretty interesting as it affords a view of Ben Nevis that you don't really experience if you stick to the 'tourist' path. It was very cloudy but I'd noticed that every five minutes or so it cleared for a brief time, enough to get one's bearings. There was no discernible path so approached after the zigzags, just after a path bifurcation, chosing a route that was due north, descending across rocky ground to a cairn that marks what was a scary cornice (scary to an urban pleb any way), then staying well away from the edge, made my way to the top. I saw there a series of cairns leading up, so there must have been a path of sorts, but from where, I know not." — vygodski • May 17, 2017
"With Alison Hore (guide). From the end of the forestry track by Allt a' Mhuilinn we went up the path towards the CIC Hut. We climbed Castle Ridge with Alison leading. This grade II Winter climb was largely done moving together. From the top of the climb we went up to the summit of Càrn Dearg. We descended NW. Some mist and a few snow flakes." — peter43 • Mar 15, 1987
"With Jonathan Bellarby. From the car park at the head of Glen Nevis. We went up beside Allt Coirie Eoghainn, then crossed it and up the east ridge of Carn Dearg. Proceeded to the other Carn Dearg and went up to the summit of Ben Nevis. There were impressive views of cliffs. The entire ascent of Ben Nevis was done wearing shorts, boots and socks only! We went to the top of Observatory Ridge and along Carn Mor Dearg Arête to Carn Mor Dearg and Carn Mor Meadhonach. I nipped up Carn Beag Dearg before we went back to Carn Mor Dearg and down the east ridge. We went down beside Allt Coire Giubhsachen to Steall and the end of the road. It was a fine and warm day with a gentle breeze." — peter43 • Jul 12, 1983
