Pretty standard anti-clockwise round in windy, crystal clear weather with unlimited visibility. Old guidebooks have this walk starting at Achaladair farm but there’s now a newIsh walkers car park close to the A82, adding bonus distance to the day. Excellent views of the Blackmount and Rannoch Moor across to Ben Nevis, Mamores + Grey Corries. I made quick progress on top thanks to easy short grass (ideal for fell runners; a few went past today) then took the direct pathless descent variation to the railway bridge which worked well, saving time and distance compared to the way most folks go. Three stiles get you over deer fences then below the somewhat decrepit railway bridge I picked up a pleasant old path through the woods which is becoming faint and overgrown with brush and bracken due lack of use nowadays.

"Cairngorm Club Bridge of Orchy Meet. With three fellow members. From Achallader Farm. After climbing Beinn aʼ Chreachain and Meall Buidhe we reached Beinn Achaladair, meeting members of Highways Walking Club, Edinburgh, on the way up and on the summit. We had a rapid lunch to S of the summit as it was cold. We reached the South Top and then Beinn an Dothaidh (NB top with cairn passed before main summit). We went on to the West Top before descending to the bealach between Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dòrain where we decided to leave Beinn Dòrain for another day. The weather seemed to be worsening. We descended to Bridge of Orchy. Snow underfoot on the tops." — peter43 • Oct 11, 1981
