"Made quick stops at Mount Davis and Baughman Rocks on the last day of my weeklong road trip. This time, I made sure to climb the summit rock on Davis to make it official.
As it turns out, Mount Davis might not be the highest point in Pennsylvania after all. Recent LiDAR findings show higher elevations in other areas nearby, with the highest point being nearly a mile away from Davis and roughly a quarter-mile north of Baughman Rocks. Google's satellite view shows a large rock at 39.798428, -79.170881 that is my guess to where PA's actual highpoint may be located -- it's only a hundred feet east of the LiDAR highpoint.

"It can never be easy, can it? Here I thought I was in for a leisurely stroll down the flat, one-mile High Point Trail on Mount Davis. Well, the heavy downpours from the night before put a damper in those plans.
The majority of the trail resembled a stream and the water in spots was higher than my ankles. In the most flooded section, I elected to remove my boots and walk barefoot -- with extreme caution so as not to cut my feet on any sharp rocks! My new boots passed this test, as they remained comfortably dry the entire time. I'm now speculating that they got so wet on Moss Lake Mountain from snow creeping inside them, which is a plausible explanation given how uncomfortably damn my usually-reliable wool socks got that winter day in the Western Adirondacks!
I didn't spend much time atop the firetower since I was previously up there four years ago. I ended up spending more time at Baughman Rocks on the other side of Mount Davis Road. That trail was considerably drier, and so unchallenging that it's handicapped-accessible according to the trailhead sign. The fun part began when I reached the colossal rocks at the end of the trail. Walking on them while trying not to get freaked o..." — theascent • May 18, 2019
"After snowboarding in the morning at 7springs and I biked ~25mi from Rockwood to Mt. Davis and Baughman Rocks. The ride was very windy and had little energy from the snowboarding. But I made it! " — hollis83 • Apr 13, 2013
