"This was a gorgeous day to climb Barrett Spur. I intended to start from McGee Creek, but the road was too washed out, so I pivoted to Top Spur. The Timberline Trail was quite pretty, though there were a few areas where the snow bridges over the creeks were getting to be very iffy. (Postholing into a rushing alpine creek could be a very serious problem.)
I brought microspikes and poles and was quite glad I had them both. (My three-season collapsible trekking poles were sufficient, though four-season poles would have made things a little easier.) The poles were probably more valuable than the spikes. I wished I'd had a garbage bag to make the glissade down easier." — sareine • Jul 8, 2020
