"After having summited first Blueberry Cobbles and then Mason we were on to Bald Peak. Great views along the way. We summited at 11:45. Stunning views from the summit as well as along the way. This was our first hike of the year bare booted. There was still sections of ice and snow but the ice was easily skirted and the snow held our weight. Difficult hike but the many views and lookouts were well worth the effort. Returned to car at 2:15." — garyogden • Mar 27, 2022

"Started from the trail-head off Route 9. It was -5 when we started, sunny, and light wind, but warmed up throughout the day A few inches of snow, some ice patches, and steep sections during the hike, micro-spikes/crampons were needed. A lot of up and downs, great views of Pharaoh wilderness, Dix range, and Green Mountains the entire hike. Beware of false summits. Overall, difficult hike, but worth it for the views. Out and back was 7.75 miles in 5 hours, with a number of quick stops. 3,375 total elevation gain." — gregoryskiba • Jan 16, 2022

"First hike towards the Adirondack 46er challenge. Left from Rt. 9N trailhead (New Russia); hiked over Blueberry Cobbles, Mason Mt., Bald Peak, Rocky Peak, to Rocky Peak Ridge." — hunterjfrost • Sep 8, 2020

"Solo thru-hike from New Russia on Memorial Day 2019. No snow left, bugs swarming below 3,000 feet, trail mostly dry and well maintained. Very steep and LOTS of ups-and-downs, ups-and-downs coming over from New Russia. Do not underestimate this route! Beautiful day and scenic hike though." — ndru-virus • May 27, 2019

"Wow ,, what a day chasing RPR today,#22 ADK 46er to Rocky Peak Ridge Via New Russia, Trails were in great shape No Amazing shape with "some" snow on the upper north sides of the higher elevations which were easily passable with out leaving the main trail, A few wet and muddy spots to cross but no more then you would see after a good rain in july,, black flies were terrible though, some new light trail maintenance along the trail, new lines painted on rocky summits and a couple water crossing along the way,, Great day with Awesome company, " — ramjet1963 • May 19, 2019

"A perfect day to hike up Rocky Peak via the New Russia trail head! It was cool, a little breezy but clear skies up over the 3 smaller summits and onto the ridge to the summit of Rocky. Great day if hiking!" — hbotc • Sep 22, 2018

"Solo. 28/29. See Blueberry Cobbles & Mason Mountain logs as this is a continuation.
The hike up to this peak was pure bliss after I left Mason. I dropped about 100’, then climbed a wonderful series of rock slabs with small forested portions in between, with great views the whole time, though it was slightly hazy out. I don’t know what the rock is, but my trail runners stuck to it like glue! Had zero issues with footing, and there were paint marks and cairns to mark the way. When I hit the true summit, I opted to continue onto the western ridge which afforded an excellent view of RPR. I was all alone up there which was great. Shortly after I left the summit, I saw 3 other hikers. About halfway down to my car, another weird event of the day as I was approached by an ascending older couple who asked me, “do you know where this trail goes?” Um? Jeez. I was polite and told them where I had gone, explaining if you continued you would wind up on RPR, then Giant (though they seemed severely winded, I doubt they intended or did go much further than Blueberry Cobbles). About 3/4mi from my car, I saw a group of 10 or so young folks who looked to be going out for an overnighter.
It was..." — kellieirene • Sep 7, 2018

"3rd peak of the day and another 29er scratched off the list. A tough slog and a hot day, and we weren't done yet !! On to RPR from here. This was roughly the half way point from the Trailhead at New Russia and RPR, so we stopped here and grabbed some lunch. Technically we summited twice, as we came back over Bald peak on the way back from RPR." — HikingViking • Sep 23, 2017

"The last of the 29er challenge for my wife. Hazy, warm and humid but views all the way! A great way to end the challenge. Constant terrain change, great elevation gain over 3 small mountains." — hbotc • Jul 23, 2016

"Our first winter high peak day - We climbed Giant and RPR from Chapel Pond to New Russia. The day started out with bluebird skies and changed to white out conditions on Rocky - a challenging and very exciting day!" — deb-and-rob • Mar 16, 2013
