"Hiked with Tom today. 34 degrees with a light flurry near the summit. Snowshoes up and down. Trail was post holed for the 1st 1/4 mile till the first side trail then great to the summit. The tower is open but no view today rather a heavy fog. 3 hr 10 min drive to do a hour and 10 min r/t hike. Crazy! But another tower hike completed." — garyogden • Jan 27, 2024
"Short hike, but there was very thin ice that was too thin for crampons but very slippery. there was also a significant quantity of slippery mud.
I slowed down after the flat section in order to avoid injury. " — pierredenommee • Nov 8, 2023
"What a beautiful day for climbing! A little steeper than I anticipated but not too bad! Kids had fun along the way- exploring “caves” (or spaces in between rocks) and the top was gorgeous. We went to the balanced rock at the end of the path to the left of the fire tower first. The views from the top were amazing - a little past peak but still great colors. Before descending we found a geocache and then several more as we made our way down the trail. ( if you geocache, load before hand as there is little to no signal other than on the top). The trail is a little slippery-especially going back down as the leaves make it more slick in spots. An amazing day for all!" — jan2ny • Oct 12, 2022
"Nancy’s winter Fire Tower Challenge finish! Did with Stephanie and Sonja. A really sunny day with 7 degree temperatures. Awesome views! Easy up and down with snowshoes and spikes." — lfrancois • Jan 8, 2022
"After taking an evening to recover from yesterday’s leg workout at Loon Lake Mountain, we decided to do this short length firetower. Once again, the GPS took us down an unpaved road for what seemed like many miles and a considerable amount of time, we got to the trailhead. The 1st three tenths of a mile were on a wide “groomed” trail with no rocks/roots and an easy to flat grade. At the site of the former observer’s cabin, the trail got significantly steeper and remained steep almost to the summit. It was another warm/humid day, so we were once again pretty drenched in sweat by the time we reached the summit. The summit featured a rock slab cliff area that looked toward the south and access was made easier with some stone steps obviously done by a hard-working trail crew. The views from the lookout as well as from the firetower cab were outstanding. There was a circular map on a stand with a movable scale of miles that was interesting, and a book we signed with our comments. Numerous mountains were identified with the PeakFinder app on our phone including Whiteface Mountain and the Seward Range. I think the “1” difficulty rating in the “Views from on High” book needs to be re-asses..." — TJandMS • Aug 25, 2021
"Took some new Hikers to visit this gem. 4th time up for me, 3rd for my Wife and our 4 legged Mountain Dog. Great weather, albeit a little too hot for the Dog. And as always, stunning views." — HikingViking • Jul 26, 2019
"3rd time to climb Azure, this time with husband, son, dog and some of the Brockville Hiking Club. It was beautiful as always and there were lots of wild blueberries ready to be picked. It was a great day with great people! " — Plodalong • Jul 26, 2019
"I wanted to enjoy the views on St Regis without freezing to death this time. So I went up there first. Then drove up to do Azure. Then drove down and did Ampersand to finish my Saranac 6. Incredible mountain to finish on. 14.2 miles for 3 seperate hikes. " — newenglandwarrior • Jun 23, 2019
"One of the best "Bang for Buck" Mountains out there. Stunning views for a not so overly strenuous hike. Less than a mile on a fairly gradual upwards trail. A fire tower and great views from the ledge. 3rd time up here now. No doubt, I'll be back again." — HikingViking • Jul 7, 2018
"Today was the first time my Wife summited an Adirondack Mountain. All 5 of us stood on the summit of a mountain for the first time ever. My second time on Azure, and my 250th "Total Summit". A great starter hike for people new to mountain hiking, gorgeous views and relatively easy trail. You could literally spend most of the day on this summit. Love this peak." — HikingViking • Jun 10, 2017
