"Followed gimpilators route to do these 3 peaks and somehow clocked me at 7 miles less when I recorded on alltrails . Nevertheless , very fun route , about 80% of it is on a nice trail only the last parts to each summit are off trail. McFarland is maybe a couple class 3 moves nothing crazy or exposed though . Lots of cairns too so route finding is never an issue. This is a super fun loop ! #10-12 of the Vegas 100 for me " — joshortman • Oct 6, 2022
"I've been to this peak a lot. I love the views across the canyon of Charlie, Lee & Clinton Peaks . I've always wanted to camp up there, so I did just that on this trip. Sunset was gorgeous & the early morning light was beautiful. Got up to the ski resort around noon on Friday. It felt a bit hot in the sun on the ascent. Made some painting sketches & just enjoyed the quiet & beauty. Coming back down this morning was a lot cooler. Was technically there on the 8th as well. " — StudioHoodoo • Jul 9, 2022
"It was a pretty day. It seems like I'm busier than ever right now, in many aspects of my life. Haven't been able to get out much lately & I felt it today. This is my go to hike for recovery & getting back in the swing of things. Oof! " — StudioHoodoo • Jul 26, 2020
"Yet again! I knew it would be a zoo up there this weekend, so went to my fave place to not see people ;-) It was still very warm up there, nary a hint of fall crispness, even at 10,000 ft. I saw no one until coming back down Bristlecone Trail for the last mile. And let me tell ya, it was a complete sh*t show for that last mile. Dogs running loose all over the place, a trail runner barreling down the trail not yielding to uphillers, not saying "excuse me" & blaring music, girl scout troops & people everywhere. But the worst was a guy carrying his hiking supplies in a plastic grocery bag who threw his granola bar wrapper down on the ground right in front of me. I just picked it up, shook my head while giving him the stink eye & kept moving...ugh!" — StudioHoodoo • Sep 1, 2019
"We went out intending two things: grab Armagosa Overlook, Peak 10010, and Divide Peak, and get a good hike at elevation to keep us in shape for our Mt. Elbert hike this time next week. We definitely accomplished the second goal, and as Meatloaf would say, "two out of three ain't bad" for getting our peaks. First problem was Ken and I hadn't discussed which order we were doing the peaks in: I thought one way, he thought the other way. Oops. ^^; Second problem: I didn't realize there was a use-trail that branched off from Upper Bristlecone trail that would have taken us up the backside into the correct wash, so instead we climbed up and over. Ooops. ^^; After that, though, it wasn't bad: there was a pretty decent use-trail up Peak 10010 (which is apparently 10018' above sea level?) that continued all along the ridge line to Armagosa Overlook. Apparently we didn't find the overlook per se, but we walked past it all along the highest curve of the topo and ridge line, so... I think that counts. We went higher than it. Grr. The path definitely went all the way to the end where we sat and ate lunch and enjoyed a nice view of Pahrump, along with Clinton, Regan, and Charleston peaks. Crazy..." — psychikingjes • Aug 24, 2019
"Went up Bristlecone Trail to Old Bristlecone/No Name Trail, then up & over Peak 10,010 & all the way out the ridge to Amargosa Overlook. I've been to both these a lot! There is a very nice stream with waterfalls & strong flow for the first half mile or so on Bristlecone Trail. In all my years here, I've never seen that! Still some big patches of snow & drifts up higher, but easy to get around." — StudioHoodoo • Jun 16, 2019
"Hiked up to Amargosa Overlook and Peak 10010 as a final training hike for Rainier next week. We took the Bristlecone Trail to the No-Name Trail, then followed the ridge to Peak 10010 and finally Amargosa Overlook. We came back the same way." — Kevin • Jun 17, 2018
"First trip to higher elevation this season. Felt slow, but made it in decent time. Ran into folks looking for missing dog, Kona. I was happy to see lots of parents with their young kids on Bristlecone Trail on the way back. Nice to know people are introducing their kids to the outdoors." — StudioHoodoo • Jun 3, 2018
"We had planned this hike a few weeks ahead of time, hoping there would be snow. Well, the snow came the night before the hike, as well as the day of our hike. Most of us were dressed appropriately, so the weather wasn't an issue, but the snow was pretty shallow and not consolidated at all, so we labored in our snowshoes over the snow covered rocks. Even though we were socked in with snow the whole day, this was still a beautiful hike. We all made it to the summit and most of us returned to the vehicles before dark. " — Kevin • Jan 20, 2018
"I wanted some solitude so the Bonanza trail on a weekday was perfect. I started on Upper Bristlcone TH then took No Name to the Bonanza Trail. I took it to Divide Peak (which had good views of Clarks Pond...then went back the way I came and did the Amargosa Overlook. That was an ENDLESS Ridge! I kept thinking I was almost there and another high point would appear. I took the ridge all the way until it had no more highpoints so I assume I arrived at the Overlook. It had unique views of Mt C, Pahrump and Wallace Canyon. 12 mile hot day with narry a breeze. " — paula.raimondi • Jul 14, 2016
