"6/22/24: From Spring Gulch Rd (CR130) and Lamartine Rd (CR22) clockwise. Tagged Alps Mtn-East [10325] first with some surprisingly interesting Class 3 scrambling that ends on a prominent point overlooking all of the West Chicago Creek drainage including top shelf front porch views of the Blue Sky massif’s north face.
Decided to seek out some scramble options on the way up the east slope of Alps. Caught up with the upper cliff bands at 10,400 and traversed a bit towards the SW rock faces. It looked exposed but doable C3+ (maybe C4) shelf traverse over to the main summit block but I forgot the helmet and it was quite unclear if there would be a comfortable line up to the summit from that point. Decided to save that for another day and took the more direct route straight up a mostly easy C4 pitch and then was able to traverse back around the nose and on up the summit ridge. Good fun.
Final leg up to Lamartine Mtn was chill and unremarkable. Took Lamartine Rd back to LWW and the Taco. Great day in the foothills! (4/1340)" — LoneWolf • Jun 22, 2024
