What a day, what an amazing, incredible day. We walked through storm and wind and rain and snow; we saw beautiful vistas down into the canyon, we were enveloped in swirling and blowing snow so thick we couldn't see down into the canyon at all; we watched snow fall down into the canyon, falling far below us... We walked from Hermit's Rest (where we got a fortifying cup of coffee to start) to the Visitor's Center, all in one go. We cut it short there, as we wanted to make it back to the hotel in time to rest and refresh ourselves for dinner at the El Tovar Dining Room (fancy!). What an amazing, incredible day. My cold weather gear was just right; I was warm without being too hot, and I never got wet. Such a great walk, a fantastic way to enjoy the beauty and majesty of the canyon - and for me, this was my first time seeing it in the snow.
