"Started climbing at 7:00 AM with the hunters. The weather was perfect. A gentle breeze and dead clear conditions were on the mountain. I saw two deer prancing past and above me towards the Mattawa side. Probably running from the hunters below. A fog engulfed the valley as the climb progressed. Round trip was around 8 miles. I found a hunters phone on the trail and managed to leave mine on the peak. I had to go back later that day and get it. It was a good climb for Mt. Rainier training." — pauldavies • Sep 24, 2016
"We live right next to this mountain, and although my wife has lived here her whole life she has never been. I've summited this mountain 2 other times with our Scout Troop 78, and driven it twice. We started our hike this time at the corral on the East side of Wahitis. Round trip was 7.5 miles. A little breezy, as always, but the view was worthit! We're training to hike Rainier, so the next step is to start hiking the switchbacks the whole way up." — pauldavies • Feb 27, 2016
