"Day Two of our AT section hike started from Ed Garvey AT Shelter and went on into town at Harper's ferry. We roused around 7am, made breakfast and broke camp around 9. After descending into Weverton Cliffs, we dropped further down onto the C/O Canal and headed along the canal on into Historic Harpers Ferry, WV where we ate lunch at the Cannonball Deli and stocked up on ice cream and coffee. After visiting the park visitors center, we headed further up the historic AT church steps and over to the Shenandoah River Bridge where we had the cars parked. We played some Pokemon Go (Poliwag Community Day) on our way back to get the GMC Acadia stashed at Washington Monument State Park and got back into PA around 5pm." — wiweasel • Jul 30, 2023

"After a long drive through a hailing thunderstorm we started our AT Section Hike from Greenbriar State Park MD to Ed Garvey Shelter on our way south to Harpers Ferry, WV. Day one was a 16 mile hike with about 2.8k of climbing. We had Conrad and full Ressler company in tow. We got in late to camp in Greenbriar and deposited the cars in Harpers Ferry on Friday, then camped and got an early start taking two shuttles of people to Washington Monument State Park where we set out for Ed Garvey.
It was hot - about 95 degrees - we stopped along the way at Rocky Run Shelter (this had two shelters, a new one and the old one with a strong spring near the older shelter), then a quick rest and lunch break near Lambs Knoll cell tower and on to Crampton Gap Shelter where we assessed the plan to go on and snacked further. Beth and several others got stung by bees/hornets and we resupplied water at Gathland State Park near a yard hydrant and park toilets. Then we proceeded on another 4 miles to Ed Garvey where we setup camp (Tarp Tents) on a windy but rain-less night. Beth kept me up most of the night worrying about pretty much everything. After breakfast we set out for day 2 of our trip on into..." — wiweasel • Jul 29, 2023

"Memorial Day weekend adventure! We fueled up the car and our bellies (at Baker's Diner) early on Sunday, then off to Maryland to Catoctin Mountain Park where we did a 9 mile route (that covered several vistas and peaks (Wolf Rock, Chimney Rock, Hog Rock and a bonus Cunningham Falls - in the state park across the road). Beth was under the weather - she had a sinus infection that had her less than peak performance but we managed to complete in about 3.5 hours moving time. Lu and I ran the last mile as I wanted to test out my leg/hip to see how close to healed I was from my injury back in May. Feeling strong, looking for another adventure." — wiweasel • May 28, 2023
