"While the rest of the U.S. was focused on the eclipse high above, I was focusing on the small blooms along the floor of the Chattahoochee National Forest on the way to Nimblewill Creek and Peak 1968 ft." — davidensley • Apr 8, 2024
"Gina, Lon and I hiked the Appalachian Trail from Hogpen Gap to Sapling Gap where Gina turned back while Lon and I continued on the old route of the Appalachian Trail to the peak of Poor Mountain beside the trail. The reroute was completed December 2022, and the old route was still in good condition. On the way back Lon and I did a medium to heavy bushwhack to the peak of Strawberry Top, which was covered in thick briars. On the way out Lon and I did a light to medium bushwhack to the peak of Wolfpen Stamp while Gina waited on trail." — davidensley • Mar 25, 2024

"Lon and I hiked the Appalachian Trail Approach Trail from Nimblewill Gap to the high point of the trail on Black Mountain, then we did a light to moderate bushwhack up the northwest ridge. On the way back down we found an easier bushwhack route than the way we went up. The trick is to keep right going up and keep left going down to avoid the tallest and thickest briars. Much easier than I thought it would be on this last full day of winter." — davidensley • Mar 18, 2024
