"Went to the Simonside Hills again with Drew! It was a hot sunny day with only a little cloud coverage. The view of the Cheviots was so clear, which was incredible to see. We walked from Rothbury to the Simonside car park, then all the way to Tosson Hill via Beacon, Dove Crag and Simonside. We walked back to the road below Simonside and did a brief 25 minute jog along the road and partly up the path on the way back up the hill, walking back to where it joins the path on the hills in between Dove Crag and Beacon (close to the Dove Crag cairn). We descended from there via Beacon and walked back to Rothbury. This is the longest amount of time we've spent in the hills and it was a great day (except for some unexpected bad spots of sunburn). Can't wait to go back and challenge myself again, maybe with some more jogging, a time challenge or by summiting one of the nearby smaller peaks. " — mariamarsbar • Jun 22, 2022
"Day started off brilliant blue skies with a forecast of only 5% chance of rain. Shortly before reaching the summit the first shower hit and went over us. Then as we were eating lunch on the summit, we watched the clouds descend from Hedgehope Hill and proceed across the valley towards the Simonside Hills. Returned in low fog, high winds, and cold rain. " — NorthernWayfarer • Jan 8, 2017
"A cold windy day, set off from the forest car park at Simonside. Walked up through the forest to the clearing at the base of Simonside Crags, then along the forest track to the open summit ridge and along the escarpment to the summit." — davidlong • Feb 17, 2012
"New Years day walk, a late start after the new years eve celebrations. We started from the Simonside Forest car park, and went up through the forest, until we reached the forest clearing near the summit crags of Simonside. Some of the forest paths were extremely muddy. We then went alongside the edge of more forest to Ravens Heugh 422m and then along the heathery ridge to the summit. Once above the forest we had good views of Hedgehope and The Cheviot." — davidlong • Jan 1, 2012
