"I take advantage of the morning to go to the monastery of Santa Ana in Jumilla and climb the mountain with the same name. The day is spring and some motorhomes are located in the recreational area. I use the botanical trail to climb, which is continuous and quite steep to the top. From here I see the Pico del Maestre and the city of Jumilla in the distance. I don't meet other hikers today, so I watch carefully where I step to avoid any silly falls. From the summit I see snowy peaks in the distance due to Storm Monica. I head a little later to the Maestre peak, which is lower but perhaps rockier and with fewer trees." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 14, 2024

"I climb to Cieza Castle with some friends using the Manolo Dato route that winds along the bottom of a dry river bed. Yesterday it rained and as we walk we leave our footprints in the sandy earth. The castle hill is rockier and steeper so the path is poorly defined which forces us to climb more attentively having to use our hands on the climbs.
At the top we had a small lunch enjoying the view of the city and the river that surrounds it. Many fruit trees are in full bloom and these days people from other regions of Spain come to Cieza to enjoy nature." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 10, 2024
"I return to this peak for the second time and see that the Puerto Frío mountain hut has been restored and an information sign has been placed.
The wind is blowing but the day is sunny as I climb through the bushes because there is no path to the top.
On the ground I see the earth disturbed by the wild boars during their night walks while the birds try to find a mate with their songs.
In the vicinity of Cerro de Las Cabras, dry almond trees grow green on recently plowed land. A narrow path brings me quite close to the top from which I have good views of the Sierra de Lugar." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 7, 2024
