"The route was actually longer, but only including the recordings that have the peaks. Same Parking area, but we went all the way down Pihea trail, crossed over a road and did the swamp trail to the lookout, before returning back, making a detour to Pihea itself. " — TABHikez • Jan 19, 2022
"Great, easy trail on the side of the rim. From Pu'u O Kila lookout you will see lot of tourist, but slowly you loose them on the way to Pihea.
Go early for better chance of clear skies." — nandorszotak • Oct 27, 2019
"This was MUDDY!!! Took the Pihea Trail to the summit. The hike itself was fairly short and simple, but the muddy conditions added a bit of excitement. No views from the summit, due to the clouds, but it did open up on the way down to give us a great view of the Kalalau Valley we were exploring only a couple days earlier!" — Kevin • Jun 5, 2015
"This was one of the muddiest trails I did on Kauai. The day after a good rain we were sliding in clay the entire way. The trail follows the rim of Kalalau Valley and takes you to the highest point along the Na Pali Coast. Of course clouds rolled in and stayed as soon as we hit the summit but we spotted a Pueo, a Hawaiian owl, circling for a solid minute below us which won me good boyfriend points again for dealing with a muddy trail for no views." — Christopher • Mar 23, 2013
